50 Favourite Trees – An Exhibition

In 2006/07 Epping Forest Distnict Council invited the residents of the district to nominate their favourite trees. The best fifty, selected by an expert panel from the nominations, were to become the 50 Favorite Trees of the district. A variety of criteria were adopted for selection including trees that were large, historic, old or just umnusual, bur the result is a collection of fifty magnificent trees

New photographs of the fifty favouries were taken and eacb one became the subject of a 'poster', information having been added about the tree. The fifty "posters' then formed an exhibition at the Epping Forest Distriet Museum, Waltham Abbey, held from 3" Noveniber 2007 to 8° January 2008.

Space has not permitted the display of all fifty posters in Ongar but a smaller exhibition of 'posters' of those trees that are local to Ongar, is to be mounted at the Great Stony Arts & Education Centre from Sattunrdey 16° February, until Monday, 25" Febraary.

Please take the opportunity to visit the exhibition. Parking at Great Stony and entry to the exhibition is expected to be free. The launch off the exhibition will coincide with the publication of the Orge Tree Strategy.
