Book Review – Favourite Trees High Country History Group
The Epping Forest District Council's quest to find the fifty favourite trees in the neighbourhood has already been reported in this journal. A book has now been produced illustrating all the trees. On the front cover is the Coleman's Farm Oak in Stanford Rivers, a craggy old pollarded oak that is still being managed on traditional lines. The Cutler's Forge Horse Chestnut in Stapleford Tawney appears inside, together with a photograph of the forge taken in 1955
Tricia Moxey has expertly edited Favourite Trees using text supplied by the proposers of the trees. John Price has taken the photographs. GreenArc has jointly supported the publication with EFDC. Founded in 2004, GreenArc is a unique partnership of authorities. organisations and interest groups concerned with a wide swathe of Home County countryside. The result is a book of both high quality and local interest.
Unfortunately the book is currently unavailable from Epping Forest District Council. No charge is made for the book, but an inserted note requests that a charitable donation be made in lieu to the Friends of St Margaret's Hospital.
