Stanford Rivers – John Reed [19517]

[19517] Private 9 th Battalion Essex Regiment. He
enlisted in Epping. He was killed on the 13 th September
1917, and is buried in Monchy British Cemetery,
Monchy-Le-Preux.
He was born in Stanford Rivers, circa 1893. His mother
was Eliza. In the 1901 Census he is shown living in
Foster Street, Harlow, with his mother and younger

brother Robert. His mother’s occupation is given as Housekeeper.
In the 1911 Census, he is listed as living with his mother in Shoe Lane, Foster
Street, Harlow. His occupation is given as a labourer.
