Princess Mary (Afterwards Queen Mary I)
In 1551, Princess Mary (afterwards Queen Mary I) was living at Copt Hall, Epping.
In that year Edward Waldegrave (see "Navestock") was one of three Gentlemen of the Household ordered to see that Mass was not celebrated there. The order was not pressed by them and all three were sent to the Tower.
Edward VI later sent three more messengers, one being Sir William Petre.
