What the Papers Say

The Observer March 9, 1913.

The funeral of Lady Cunliffe Smith of Suttons, Romford, took place yesterday at Stapleford Tawney churchtyard, in the presence of a large assembly. The two chief mourners were Sir Drummond Cunliffe Smith and Mr Reginald Cunliffe Smith (sons).

All the tenant farmers on the estate were present, and an interesting figure was Mr D. Wright, head keeper, who is 76 years of age, and has been in the service of the family since a boy. The service was very impressive. The coffin was covered in beautiful wreaths. The Lady Cunliffe Smith was much esteemed and was a great friend to the poor.
