[G/18958] Lance Corporal in the 6th Battalion, The Buffs
(East Kent Regiment). He enlisted at Whitehall, Middlesex. He was killed on
3 May 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the
Arras Memorial, France.
He was born in Stanford Rivers on 31 January 1891, the son of
Joseph Downham, of “Lawns”, 28 London Road, Stanford Rivers.
At the time of the 1911 Census, he was employed as a gardener.
He was married to Harriet J. Downham, of 58 St Ann’s Road, Barking, Essex.
