and is buried in Basra War Cemetery, Iraq.
He was born about 1889 in Faversham, Kent, the son of Charles and
Hannah Mepsted, of 17 Stapleford Tawney.
His father, Charles, was butler to Sir Drummond Cunliffe Smith.
Robert was married to Ada Mepsted, of New Walsoken, Wisbech.
In the 1911 Census, his occupation was recorded as a carpenter.
